Status Update: The application period is now closed. Thanks for your applications.
This is a simple process. Here’s how it works:
- You tell us your idea.
- If we like it, we invite a full proposal.
- We partner with and fund the best ones.
Once you click the APPLY link, you’ll land at our online application. There will be some general questions about you or your organization (name, address, etc.). We’ll ask you to name your project and describe it in 1,000 characters or less. Think of it as an elevator pitch for your idea.
We won’t ask for the cost of the project — yet. At first, we focus on the quality of the idea and making sure it sticks to the three rules. If you are invited to submit a full proposal, we will ask at that time about the project’s costs.
- The contest opens Oct. 3, and the deadline is Oct. 31, 2011.
- Please sign up for the e-newsletter to receive any updates.
- Before you click APPLY, take a moment to read our FAQs.
Here’s a sample application from our Knight Arts Challenge contest in Miami showing what we’re looking for.
SAMPLE description (867 characters)
TITLE: ArtsCalendar.com
DESCRIPTION: South Florida lacks a one-stop source for all cultural events happening in our community. ArtsCalendar.com will be a FREE comprehensive online cultural events calendar for South Florida. The cleanly designed (think Google) web site will contain continuously updated information on the top 200 cultural organizations in the community. Using the same platform as Artsopolis.com, the information on the calendar can be viewed by date and type of event or you can even search the calendar. It will offer a weekly subscription e-mail calendar of the top events. The site will be marketed to all members of the community through web advertising and a marketing campaign. With more than 1,600 arts groups around here, people need a single, trusted source to get their information. Once more people know what’s going on, they will participate more in the events.
