When was the last time you went to someone’s website and were deeply soothed? I was when I visited www.sagmeister.com. A calming guitar started and played throughout my different meanderings. I actually felt my breathing slow down.
This is great design. Many websites have good music, but often it changes as you navigate their site. Stefan Sagmeister, founder of Sagmeister Inc., is practicing what he will be speaking about tonight, May 24 at 7 p.m.
One night only — with limited space available — Sagmeister will explore the possibilities of achieving happiness as a designer, his tactics to make sure his work remains a calling without deteriorating into a job, as well as the chances to design pieces that induce happiness in the audience.
Mint Museum Contemporary Architecture + Design CAD Series present Stefan Sagmeister: Design and Happiness. The Mint Museum Uptown (a Knight Arts grantee) is offering the community this brief opportunity to infuse their lives with some positive, highly creative, innovative energy and ideas from this sought after New York City designer.
Branching out from the design world into more creative artistic projects has been Sagmeister’s path. He offers insight into balance and refreshing creative life philosophies. “Be proficient in your craft, speak the language, have hunger or desire. Be unstoppable,” Sagmeister has advised.
To attend the event, register by clicking here. Due to the Food Lion Speed Street Festival, several streets uptown will be closed during this event. Please refer to the map link when planning your route. Parking is available at Levine Center for the Arts Garage, located in the Duke Energy Center and accessible from West Stonewall Street.
Great design and some happiness too. Who couldn’t use more of that?
